{"id":715,"date":"2021-02-16T19:31:00","date_gmt":"2021-02-17T00:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ee0r.com\/blog-new\/?p=715"},"modified":"2021-02-02T17:06:12","modified_gmt":"2021-02-02T22:06:12","slug":"old-brushwork","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ee0r.com\/blog-new\/old-brushwork\/","title":{"rendered":"Old Brushwork"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>It seems that I did this copy of a portrait from the <em>Zuishin Teiki emaki<\/em> back in June of 2019, but never bothered to scan it in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ee0r.com\/sca\/emaki\/zuishin01-01.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ee0r.com\/sca\/emaki\/zuishin01-01.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\"\/><\/a><figcaption><a href=\"https:\/\/ee0r.com\/sca\/emaki\/zuishin01-01.png\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/ee0r.com\/sca\/emaki\/zuishin01-01.png\">zuishin01-01.png<\/a><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This <em>emaki <\/em>(illustrated scroll) presents portraits of the members of the Imperial Guard Cavalry, and is representative of the highly realistic \u201cdocumentary\u201d style of emaki that flourished in the Kamakura period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is interesting because although this <em>emaki <\/em>is from the time period when the black-and-white <em>hakubyou <\/em>style was the dominant expression of <em>Yamato-e<\/em>, it has light washes of color on the clothing of the rider and the tack of the horse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have exaggerated the coloring on this copy, but left the horse pure white.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It seems that I did this copy of a portrait from the Zuishin Teiki emaki back in June of 2019, but never bothered to scan it in.
