Here's a braid I did back in October. I was hoping to be able to enter it into a leatherworking competition, that's why it's made from suede lacing instead of silk or cotton. I wound up running the competition instead of entering it, so this wound up being just a fun project.
I started with probably six feet of suede lace per strand, and due to the stiffness and thickness of the material the braid is only about three feet long. With a heavier ring at the end and a bit more length, it could be a rather nice belt.
